Roti Tempayang Ieqa at Masjid Sultan Ahmad, Chukai, Kemaman

Hi folks.

It's been awhile since i last update anything from Kemaman. There are a lot of good food in Terengganu Oil & Gas town waiting to be found & recently I found one that worth sharing here. Anyone familiar with Naan bread? Usually in Klang Valley, we would found this bread at any mamak restaurant. Considered as one of the healthiest choice besides dhosai & capati. Usually eaten with curry, dhal or tandoori chicken & even sometimes mixed with garlic, cheese or even raisins.

However in Kemaman, it was a bit different. There is no such thing as garlic or cheese naan. Only plain naan. Oh, and local don't call it Naan. They call it Roti Tempayan. And usually it wasn't from any mamak restaurant since mamak restaurant existence in Kemaman almost to none. This place here was introduced by a friend of mine. This place shared a space with one of Kemaman famous Mosque, Masjid Sultan Ahmad. Quite hidden as well but this place is famous for breakfast spot among locals. Customers will be able to witness the making of roti tempayan here while queuing.

Since only plain Roti Tempayan are sold here, this place offers 3 types of homemade curry; Chicken, Beef & Mutton.

For none roti tempayan lover, there are other food as well such as nasi lemak, fried beehoon, local kuih muih for sale as well.

This roti tempayan tasted very different from your typical mamak's naan. It really fulfilled gardenia slogan, "it's so good you can even eat it on its own". The bread was soft, fluffy & have a quite slight sweet taste on it. Not sugary sweet but definitely hint of it. The curry was really good. I always prefer their mutton curry. The meat was tender & well cooked. The gravy not too thick & watery, rich with goodness of flavors.

My bad as i forgot to snap a picture of the shop but it was actually stall kinda place. Masjid Sultan Ahmad easily spotted if you're on the main road heading towards Kemaman Supply Base. It's a white mosque.
