Teratai Seafood at Seksyen 13, Shah Alam

Hello folks.

Before Tadisma business park at Seksyen 13, Shah Alam welcomed modern cafe like Toran Coffee, Pak Li & Teh Tarik place, mamak restaurants was ruling the area. But there is a place that still operating from the year I started working there back in 2007, wow, a whooping 7 years! The restaurant is called Teratai Seafood. Started off as D'teratai before changes of management, Teratai seafood still maintained all the signature dishes plus the taste, quality & portion. Once in a while we will have a dinner there. Most dishes served here are Thai based food.

On my recent trip, we ordered Ayam Kapitan, Tofu Mongolia & Sambal Brinjal along with white rice. Our favorite dish is always Tofu Mongolia. Stir fried japanese tofu with oyster sauce and....(breath in), carrots, mushrooms, squids, peppers, gingers, onions, prawns & corns with dried chilies for heat.

Tofu Mongolia

Next was Sambal Brinjal. Stir fried egg plant with sambal udang kering. It was really nice. Not too spicy but pleasant & not too oily. Udang kering added extra flavor for the dish.

Sambal Brinjal

Lastly, Ayam Kapitan. Stir fried chicken pieces which dried kari kapitan. It was flavorsome for a dried curry dish. Chicken was cooked perfectly.

Ayam Kapitan

Even though the dishes was not really authentic Thai, but the taste was worth coming down here. Their ala carte dish like fried noodle & rice was one of the best. Try it!

Las Carretas at Taipan, USJ 10

Hola, como estas?

Recently I had a dinner with a friend of mine & he fancied for some mexican. Since he lived nearby USJ 10, I suggested Las Carretas & we went there for dinner & catching up. This will be my second entry after my first entry.

Chimichanga has been on my mind ever since I played Deadpool game. I never thought it was actually a mexican food. lol. I ordered chimichanga while my friend ordered Beef Fajitas.

The mexican menu

US based TGI Friday & Chili's are famous for their fajitas as well & Las Carretas' fajitas not far behind. The beef was soft & tender, sizzled on a bed of onions & peppers. Comes with 2 piece of warm soft tortilla bread, a scoop of mexican rice, avocado & cheese.

Beef Fajitas

As for Chimichanga, it was made of crispy filo pastry filled with cheese, minced beef & tomato salsa sauce with shredded cabbages. Served with mexican rice & salad on top of a homemade tomato gravy. It was quite good. The homemade filling was full of flavors. The outer shell of pastry was crunchy like popia goreng. lol.

Chimichanga that will make Deadpool shed his tears

While many food trucks recently emerged serving mexican food like tacos & burritos, here is the place where you can experience other mexican food.

Nasi Arab Ta'if at Laman Seri, Shah Alam

Ya habibi Ya maulana,

After browsing my own blog for improvement, I realized that I haven't share anything about middle east aka arabian cuisine. But now it's time for my first ever entry for Arabian cuisine. As we all aware, there are a lot of arabian restaurants in Klang Valley, even all across Malaysia. Famous name like Hadramawt are scattered in KL like mushrooms.

Recently I had a dinner at a less known Nasi Arab Ta'if, 10 minutes drive from where i lived. Me & my family rarely eat out at Arabian joint but once in a while, some change of air would be nice. There was quite a number of dishes on the menu with familiar names like Mandy, Kebab & Shwarma. We ordered Lamb Haneeth & Lamb Aqda to share (year of the goat, lol).

Not all arab restaurants served quite a nice rice dishes like this one. Personally, I preferred the rice full of spices, flavors & moist. I got just that here. Served with a lamb leg that usually used for Lamb shank, it was really nice. You can just eat it without additional gravy since the rice & lamb was well cooked with flavors from the spices.

Lamb Haneeth

My favorite meal at arab restaurants is actually Mulawwah Bread but unfortunately they don't have it here. Lamb Aqda is like a tomato based lamb stew. The meat was soft & tender with the gravy was sweet & sour. A bit of heat from the chilies inside. Served with lebanese bread.

Lamb Aqda

The portion was huge so sharing is very recommendable unless you're a big eater.

Okonomi at Publika

Anyone here fancy for a green tea?

Green tea somewhat nowadays underwent a revolution from being serve as a tea to various range of food & beverages. Good for health, but some might not like the taste, some restaurants like to play around with it by infused it into desserts.

Enter Okonomi. A new japanese restaurant specialized in custom made sushi roll where customer can choose their ingredients & the chef will do it for them. Since i was already had some mains, my target was their dessert which was Green tea molten lava cake. The cake was similar to the infamous chocolate molten lava cake but with green tea based. Served with vanilla softie ice cream & green tea chocolate. It was quite nice for me. The green tea element was quite strong. Some might not like it though. The lava was sweet with green tea flavor.

This is one the many other dish offered by Okonomi. The idea of customized sushi roll will definitely gave me a reason to return here in the near future.

Fahrenheit 600 at Publika

Hi folks.

In my previous post on Fahrenheit 600 earlier, I've mentioned about trying their other dishes besides pizza. It took awhile for me to return back to the place because of daily schedule but i did just that recently since my mom & sis was craving for a good pizza so I decided to bring them here. The menu still remained the same from my last visit.

The menu

It didn't took us long time to decide what to order. In order to maximize our experience here, we decided to go for 1 signature pizza, 1 breakfast & 1 artisan pasta dish. We ordered Mexican pizza, New York breakfast & Ducking good.

The pizza was excellent. This place surely not saving with their ingredients as this pizza was loaded with cheese & minced beef. Topped with jalapeno, beans & corns with a hidden trap of chili padi. The tomato base sauce compliment well with all the elements. Crust was nicely thick & crunchy. A dash of tomato salsa for a mexican touch.

It's been awhile since i went for a brunch & ordered a breakfast. Here, we decided to go for something hearty. NY breakfast consisted of a slice of toast, hashbrown, mixed of white & red baked beans, chicken sausage, beef bacon, sauteed mushrooms & 2 baked eggs. Nothing to shout about this dish aside from being decent but definitely fulfilling.

Finally, Ducking good pasta. Honestly, my first duck experience wasn't a good one. So i kinda avoided eating duck from that moment until i've eaten a good duck dish months ago way before i started this blog. This pasta made of spaghetti aglio olio with mushrooms, herbs, rosemary, chili padi & duck slices. To get the maximum flavors out of this dish, do not save the duck till the end. Otherwise, the pasta will taste quite normal. Squeeze the orange slice for extra edge on the dish.

Ducking Good (RM 23.90)

Only sandwiches section left for me to explore. Will return for them sooner or later.
