Recently (at least for me), there is a new shopping mall opened just next to KL Sentral station called Nu Sentral. It's been a long time since i last ride any public transport especially commuter or lrt stopping at KL Sentral. Therefore it was to my surprise to see a huge shopping mall next to it now. When there's a shopping mall, there will always be restaurants and cafe. Lately there is a friend of mine who always posted her dine in experience at Dolly Dim Sum. I like chinese food as well but dim sum are quite hard to come by. To my surprise, Dolly Dim Sum just opened a new branch at Nu Sentral. Like malay old saying, langkah kanan.
Dolly Dim sum is one of the few restaurants offering halal dim sum as well as some other signature chinese street food. For newcomer like me, it took me awhile to decide what am i going to eat. The restaurant design is a mix of modern & classic chinese kopitiam look.
There are quite a lot of choices on the menu. Luckily there was a description on each dish so it makes life easier for me.
The menu
I had quite a lot considering I didn't eat any breakfast on that day. I had Siew Mai Dumpling, Roasted BBQ bun, Loh Mai Gai, Spicy Szechuan Dumpling, Egg custard bun, BBQ chicken cheong fun, Chewy meat croquette. If i'm not careful i would have ordered more. lol.
Flatlay
First off, Roasted BBQ Bun. It resembles traditional steam Pau which i think it is. The bun was nicely done. Soft & sweet compliment well with bbq honey beef inside. The filling was sweet with BBQ sauce that might have added with soy sauce.
Roasted BBQ Bun
Next is another steam bun, Egg custard bun. I personally like this a lot. Steam bun with salted egg custard filling. Careful when eating it while it's hot. The filling was nicely sweet with melted salted egg yolk sweetened by the custard.

Chinese cuisine also have their own sticky rice. While malay cuisine are famed for their pulut kuning, thai cuisine with their sticky mango rice, Chinese cuisine have Loh Mai Gai, sticky rice with soy sauce, char siu chicken, mushroom & abalone. It was a nice dish. All elements combined well. The chicken was succulent and cooked well char siu style.
Loh Mai Gai
I've heard about Cheong Fun before but never tasted one before as it was hard to find a halal cheong fun. Kinda resemble uncut kuey tiaw. Basically bbq chicken filling rolled in a flat rice noodles before being cut into pieces then drenched in soy sauce accompanied by chili paste. The chili paste was very good and it just bring the dish to life. Not too spicy as well. Probably made with dried shrimp.

And of course, my meal would be complete without the dim sum. I'm not a prawn eater so i had to separate the prawns from the dim sum before i could it them. The first i had is Siew Mai. It was chewy with chicken filling compressed into small dumpling. Dip it into the chili & soy dip given. The dumpling perfectly seasoned which makes it can be eaten without the dip.
Siew Mai Dumpling
Lastly, spicy szechuan dumpling. Again, i had to separate the prawn. Unlike siew mai, this dumpling served inside a broth of soy sauce. The shell was made out of thin layer of flat rice noodle with filling inside. The broth was rich yet not too thick with soy flavor.
Spicy Szechuan Dumpling
It was really a good experience having once in a while Chinese cuisine for a change. Apart from dim sum, they have fried rice as well.
