Ana Ikan Bakar Petai at Tanjung Lumpur

What's up folks?

During my recent trip to Kemaman, me & my mates went to Tanjung Lumpur in Kuantan for a Ikan Bakar dinner. Ah, ikan bakar. One of the food that us malaysians find it hard to resist. For KL folks, best to get ikan bakar like places in Pelabuhan Klang, Bagan Lalang & Kuala Selangor as that place very near to the sea & have a good source to get fresh seafood. The journey from Kemaman to Tanjung Lumpur took us almost an hour passing through the developed Kuantan City.

Ana Ikan Bakar Petai is quite famous even have a branch in Bangi that usually crowded with seafood lovers. Here alone in Tanjung Lumpur, they have 2 outlets nearby. Their speciality are their affordable, fresh ikan bakar petai. The first thing to do after arriving is to find a table as it is quite crowded then only you can proceed to choose your seafood at the seafood counter. A lot of fish for choosing ranging from garoupa to sting ray. Crab, clams, cockles, squid & prawns are available as well.

These what we've chosen; Garoupa, Sting Ray, Squid & Bamboo Clams.

It took quite awhile to receive our first order due to high order but luckily there was a satar & keropok lekor nearby for appetizer. First to arrive was the bamboo clams. We ordered it to be cooked masak pedas. Clams cleaned & cooked well. The gravy was a bit spicy & sour but still good.

Next to arrive was Ikan Kerapu masak 3 rasa. To me, this was the dish of the night. Fresh garoupa cooked well with delicious gravy where sweet & spicy combined. The diced pineapple & tomato combined well together.

The signature dish was next. Sting ray flamed to perfection then topped with homemade sambal with petai. I have a mixed feeling for this dish. The sting ray was good & well good but i'm not very fond of the sambal with petai. The sambal was sweet but the petai taste kind of out of place for me. Still a decent dish.

Lastly, the deep fried squid. We picked 2 squids for this dish. The breaded was crispy & well seasoned. Doesn't too dependable on the sauce. Squid was well cooked & not rubbery.

Our total bill that night was RM 130++. Not too expensive & normal price i would say. Perhaps other places are cheaper. But certainly a good experience eating here.
