Gula Cakery at Kota Kemuning

Hiya folks.

If anyone remembers, one of my earlier post is about salted caramel chocolate fudgy brownies by Gula Bakery. As months went by, from just an online bakery & baking class, the owner not only changes the name from Gula Bakery to Gula Cakery but also open a physical cafe in Kota Kemuning. Yes folks especially in Kota Kemuning, there is a new cafe in town. It's like every online baker dream made to come true. But no worries, for those who still ordering from her, it's business as usual but maybe on a limited order basis.

This Cafe is a combination of baking class & cafe which the former on the ground floor & the latter is on the upper floor. Quite a buzz surrounding this cafe during its opening month. Even my officemates found their way to this cafe all the way from KL before me. lol. This cafe currently run by her & her family (sister, auntie, parents) with her mother helping with one of the signature menu every week. The menu changes every week with some might be permanent on the menu & some change every week. Kinda like a home cooking kind of feeling. The interior is simple yet have this peaceful kind of vibe. They even have kids playing area.

The interior.

As for the foods, there are hot food & dessert served here. Some of the signature cakes on the counter for sale daily so be ready to grab them because they're selling fast. Like super fast.

We ordered quite a lot since this is our first time coming down here. We had mom's signature Laksa Lemak, Nasi Minyak & Ayam Rendang, Pesto Chicken Sandwich, Tuna Melt Sandwich, Mango Cheesecake, Creme Brulee, Pate A Choux & Nutella Cookies. Laksa Lemak was pleasant eventhough missing kind of finishing edge to it. The gravy was creamy & sufficiently thick with fish meats in it.

Next signature dish is Nasi Minyak with Rendang Ayam. The rendang was really nice. The gravy wasn't that thick like you would normally find in most rendang but full of flavor. Combined well with the acar given.

After 2 local dishes, we had 2 more light western dishes. Their pesto chicken sandwich is certainly to die for & mouthful as well. The foccacia bread was perfectly toasted till crispy. The chicken marinade well with pesto sauce.

Pesto Chicken Sandwich

Tuna melt sandwich was decent as well with overloading tuna filling but i still prefer their pesto chicken sandwich.

Gula Cakery best came from their dessert. Some of the dessert recipe even came from France where she went there for a baking class. Creme Brulee is one of the dessert that truly catches my attention. The plain looking dessert certainly packed lot of creamy goodness. The top layer of burned sugar done well to combine well with the creamy layer base.

Another dessert hailed from France on the counter is Pate A Choux. I'm not exactly sure what does it mean but it is quite similar to cream puff except with crispy yet fluffy shell with dense yet soft cream filling.

We tried one of the cake. Their mango cheesecake packed with mango goodness not only on the top but also with diced mango. The cheese was light for those who like their cheesecake light. The base was nice & crumbly.

Lastly, we had their Nutella Cookies. It's actually a soft cookies with ooey goey nutella & choc block inside. Kids surely will love them & weight watchers will have guilty pleasure feeling for them.

The food here are quite nice with a home feeling to it. But for those who really love the cakes, usually at 8pm, they will slash down the cake price to 50%. Be sure to grab those cakes. Make sure to follow them on their instagram for weekly menu.
