Yellow Brick Road Cafe at Damansara Heights

Welcome back folks.

During my drive to Huckleberry recently along the roads of Damansara Heights, I can't help but to notice lots of exciting cafes there. Unlike Damansara Heights next door neighbors; Solaris Publika & Sri Hartamas, this area is quite quiet since it is mostly a suburb area. But hidden among those big houses, there are lots of cafe to be explored. I received a tip from a friend of mine on instagram about Yellow Brick Road Cafe. Most photos uploaded are about pancakes. Since pancake is my kryptonite so I went on to check it out.

Similar to Red Bean Bag & Huckleberry, this place packed with hungry people during brunch time but plenty of seating unlike the formers.

The interior

As for the menu, foods like egg benedict & french toast are present on the menu. But here, some of the foods are fusion like. Quite a number of choices on the menu ranging from breakfast to pancakes to mains.

Other name for this cafe is Wicked Pancake Parlour so pancake is a must order. We ordered Cheesy Mr. Mac, Beef Rendang Cottage Pie, The impasta, Peter Pandan & It's a little bit nutty.

As the name depicts, Cheesy Mr. Mac is a Mac & Cheese. This classic american dish is a favorite for some especially kids. For cheese lovers, this dish is suitable for you. Macaroni was perfectly cooked & drowned inside melted cheese with crispy beef bacon & mushroom. The flavors mostly came from the cheese used. Cheese lovers gonna love this!

Cheesy Mr. Mac

The first fusion is Beef Rendang Cottage Pie. Minced beef rendang topped with creamy mashed potato with a slice of thick toast. The pie itself was good but since i'm fresh from raya food, the rendang was missing that kick which usually present inside kampung rendang. Perhaps it was different since here they used minced meat. The mashed potato was nice & bonded well with the rendang. A bit spicy maybe for some.

The inside

Next fusion dish is The Impasta. Aglio Olio tossed with house made Chicken Char Siu & marinated Soy beans. It was really good. The chicken though, tasted like Chicken Rice Shop's bbq chicken but this dish flavors was powered up by the marinated soy beans.

The impasta

To cap off our brunch, we ordered 2 pancakes dishes. First, Peter Pandan. Pandan infused pancakes with slices of caramelized jackfruit between them with Gula melaka sauce & salted caramel ice cream. The chef really hit the spot for this dish. Every elements compliment each other very well. Pancakes was fluffy with immense pandan flavor. Jackfruit with gula melaka sauce really add the edge for this dish.

Lastly, we finishes off with It's a little bit nutty. 2 fluffy pancakes with a spread of peanut butter, topped with sprinked of mixed crushed nuts, chocolate flakes, banana slices & salted caramel ice cream. Beware, this dish was so good that it easily makes you full. Your jaw can get tired by chewing every bite!

This place have the similar vibes with likes of Acme. There is a similar dish as well which i have yet to try. Pricewise, standard KL living price. But i like how the chefs idea represented on the food here. A next visit is a must!
